TRACEABILITY of ANIMALS and ANIMALS PRODUCTS, of FEED and FOOD

In times of globalisation, demands from the EU and the market in regard to animal production, the prevention and control of animals epedemics and the protection of food safety are more and more important. In order to meet the numerous challenges arising from animal- and public health issues and trade, it needs to gather and document reliable information on food safety following the principle

                                                   "From the Stable to the Table"

InterTrace is in use by National Governments, Herdbook Societies and large-scale animal recording organisations for animal traceability, performance recording and benchmarking.

InterTrace is an integrated livestock population database designed to meet the information needs of regulatory authorities, national veterinary services, breed societies, livestock product quality assurance organisations and others.

InterTrace keeps complete records on:

Livestock Premises and Producers, Individual Livestock;

Livestock Movement and Traceability;

Markets, Collection points, Slaughterhouses;

Seasonal Pastures;

Suppliers (ear tags, feed, medicine..);

End-users (zone circumscriptions, veterinarians, laboratories..)

Geographic location (GPS locations)

Reports and Documents.

With the Central database installed in the users Head Office and the Client program installed at all relevant locations, including farms, quarantine stations, veterinary ambulances, abattoirs and other system partners all information can be recorded.

Acces through Local (LAN) or wide-area networks, the Web via Internet Information Server and soon direct connection from the Mobile Phone.

InterTrace meets all of the requirements of current and projected European Union legislation regarding animal traceability.

InterTrace is the database adopted by Malta for the identification and registration of bovine animals pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1760/2000. The EU Commission officially recognised the database for bovine animals as fully operational in Malta from 1st May 2004. Malta is the only EU member state to have achieved this status (July 2004). Under the provisions of this regulation, Malta no longer has to issue cattle passports. The cattle premium schemes are also consequently paperless.
